ESSENTIAL OILS ARE NATURE'S
FIRST AID KIT
A great deal of research has been
done on the tremendous healing powers of pure essential oils, and they have been
proven effective in a wide variety of medical applications.
As many health-concerned individuals are becoming more aware of side effects
resulting from chemically produced medications, essential oils are becoming
necessary as a natural and effective solution.
(Note: For severe or prolonged
symptoms, seek the help of a medical doctor.)
Relief for burns:
After cleansing the affected
area, gently dab on 6 drops of Lavender and 3 drops of Tea Tree with a cotton
swab three times a day. If desired, protect skin with a bandage annointed with
3-5 drops of lavender, changing bandage often.
Why it works...
Lavender essential oil is
widely known for it's extraordinary ability to treat injured skin, especially
burns. Dr. Rene-Maurice Gattefosse, widely known as the "father of
Aromatherapy," wrote of his experience with Lavender in his book, Aromatherapie
(1937), as follows: "...After a laboratory explosion covered me with burning
substances...my hands were covered with a rapidly changing gas gangrene. Just
one rinse with Lavender oil stopped the gasification of the tissues. This
treatment was followed by profuse sweating, and healing began the next day.
(July 1910)..." Tea Tree essential oil is also beneficial in treating burns
because of its powerful anti-bacterial properties. Applying it to any infected
or injured area of the skin immediately kills germs and harmful bacteria.
Relief for cuts and
wounds:
For minor cuts and scrapes,
cleanse area often and apply one drop each of Lavender and Tea Tree essential
oil (undiluted) on the skin.
Why it works...
Lavender's restorative
properties will stimulate the skin's healing process and its high linalool
content will help relieve the discomfort. Tea Tree will disinfect the wound and
prevent infection from occurring.
Relief for sprains and
muscular aches:
For minor sprains and aches,
apply a cold compress using a bowl of water with 3 drops Eucalyptus, 3 drops
Lavender and 3 drops Rosemary added. Replace compress as often as necessary.
Why it works...
The versatile Lavender
essential oil is also a highly effective anti-inflammatory agent, and will help
reduce any muscle or tissue swelling. Lavender is also beneficial in diminishing
pain. Eucalyptus has regenerative properties which speed the healing of minor
injuries. Rosemary stimulates the circulation when applied topically, which will
increase blood flow to the injured area to speed up recovery.
Relief for bruises:
To speed up healing of minor
bruises, massage a few drops of Auroma's "Bruise Be Gone" Healing Ointment at
least twice a day.
Bruise Be Gone
Healing Ointment
1 T. Arnica oil
3 drops Fennel
3 drops Marjoram
Why it works...
Arnica, a healing oil extracted
from the botanical Arnica montana, is an effective treatment for all external
injuries, most notably bruising. When applied immediately, Arnica can even
prevent bruises from appearing at all! Detoxifying Fennel is known to aid in the
healing of bruises, while Marjoram will nurture and soothe the pain of any
external injury.
