HEALING THYSELF NATURALLY

Light To Shine The Way

When you seek Spirit, you will find Him, and He will be with you always.

It had been a day of high anxiety as we had rolled with the uncertain events that would unfold with an approaching hurricane.  The hurricane arrived and after having experienced much stronger ones, we had played within the caresses of Earth Mothers winds and rain.  We ran like children and laughed with glee at the excitement of her breeze.  We watched her trees sway and heard the sound of electric transformers blow, a sure signal there would be no lights for quite a while.

Mother was kind to us and spared us her strongest winds.  Upon her departure and not having any major yard work to do, a nap was in store.  I rested until dusk and then arose to gather candles and lanterns for the nightfall.  My neighbor had a generator so I went to his house to watch the evening news.  I blew out all the candles at my house before leaving.  After watching the news our conversation led to my sharing stories of God’s presence in my life regarding a relatives recent passing due to cancer.  It was a sweet story of warmth, love, and passing souls.

As I rose to leave, I forgot to get my flashlight from the coffee table.   My neighbor said  “I wondered when you would realize you didn’t have your flashlight to go home. ”  “Oh, I won’t need it “ I said.   “God will shine a bright beacon for my way. ” I chuckled.  “Sure” he said, not quite convinced.  We stepped onto his front porch. The cloud cover had provided a soft luminance to the night and I could see the way to my house without the help of the flashlight.  “See”, I said. “ I don’t even need it”.  At that time we could see a small brilliant yellow light shining through my front window.  We both gasped, “What is that light?”  he asked.  “That is my beacon”, I answered.  “You must have left that candle burning” he said.  “You saw me blow them all out” I remarked.  Jokingly he said, “Well, since you have a direct connection, why don’t you get me some power?”  “Alright, do you want cable too?”, I joked.   “Yeah” he smirked.  We both laughed and I went across the street to my home.

Upon entering my living room I glanced at the fireplace mantle and saw the candlelight.  I shone the flashlight across the couch to see if my roommate was there, and he wasn’t.  I glanced back toward the mantle and the candlelight had gone out.  I smiled, knowing the little beacon had done her job.

Playfully, I called my neighbor.  I told him of the candle going out as soon as I walked in.  “Wow”, he said.  “How about that power?”  “Give me a minute and I’ll see to that” I jokingly said.  We laughed and said bye. I went straight to my bedroom to lie down.  I thought to myelf, 'wouldn't it be amazing if the power came on NOW'.   Within five seconds the light in my hallway came on.  Knowing that my neighbor didn’t have his light switches on; I jumped out of bed to call him.  “If you want lights, just turn on your switch”, I said.  “Ah!”, he gasped.  “I wonder how long it will stay on” he smirked.  “I don’t”, I said.  “I guess I have cable too”, he joked.  “Just turn on your tv”.  “Ah!”, he said again.  He had cable.  “We have to talk in the morning, good night” my neighbor said in a voice that sounded like a child who had witnessed something amazing.  I smiled and lie back down.  Knowing that God has a sense of humor and sometimes it is needed to help others to find their way.
